SERIES AT A GLANCE: The Flying Squirrels will seek their third straight win when they take on the Akron Aeros in the finale of a four-game series at Canal Park tonight. Last night, Nick Liles delivered a two-run single in the top of the 11th and Tommy Joseph added an RBI single later in the frame to lift the Flying Squirrels to a 9-5 victory over the Aeros 11 innings. Liles, Joseph and Mark Minicozzi each drove in two runs for Richmond and Gary Brown went 2-for-5 with a double and three runs scored. Tom Vessella (3-2) worked 1.1 scoreless innings and earned the win. Bryce Stowell (1-1) took the loss after allowing two hits and four runs, three of which were earned, in 1/3 of a inning pitched. Johnny Monell smacked a solo home run off Aeros starter Steven Wright in the top of the fourth, his first home run since belting a pair of solo shots against Bowie on May 12. The Flying Squirrels went 5-6 against Akron in 2011 including a 3-5 mark at Canal Park. Richmond is 9-14 all-time against the Aeros and the club is 6-11 all-time at Canal Park. The two teams will meet 14 times in 2012, 6 times in Akron and 8 times in Richmond. Following this four-game series, the Flying Squirrels and Aeros will meet again at The Diamond for a four-game series, July 19-22.

TODAY'S PITCHERS: LHP Chris Gloor vs. RHP Brett Brach Gloor: Makes his twenty-first appearance and his second start for the Flying Squirrels tonight. In his last start, Gloor allowed five hits and no runs along with one walk and one strikeout in 4.0 innings pitched at Reading Thursday. He received a no-decision in Richmond's 5-2 triumph. Tonight's game will be Gloor's second career appearance and his first start against Akron. He is 0-0 with a 0.00 ERA against the Aeros. Earlier this season, Gloor tossed 19.2 scoreless innings (May 1 through June 15), the longest scoreless innings streak by a Squirrels pitcher in 2012. Last season, Gloor pitched for three different Giants affiliates, Advanced-A San Jose, Rookie-Ball AZL Giants and Short-Season A Salem-Keizer. He posted a combined record of 3-1 with one save and a 3.34 ERA in 18 appearances. Gloor owns a 15-5 record with three saves a 2.75 ERA in 99 career minor league appearances, including eight starts.

The Bay Shore, NY. native was selected by the Giants in the 17th round of the 2009 June Draft out of Quinnipiac University.

Brach: Makes his seventeenth appearance and his fifteenth start of the season tonight. Brach opened the season with Advanced- A Carolina, where he went 0-1 with a 5.23 ERA in six appearances, including four starts. Since his promotion to Akron, Brach has compiled a 3-3 record with a 3.49 ERA in 10 starts. In his last start, Brach allowed four hits and one earned run along with four walks and three strikeouts in seven innings pitched against Erie Thursday. He earned his third win in Akron's 7-1 triumph. The right-hander split the 2011 campaign between three of Cleveland's affiliates, Advanced-A Kinston, Double-A Akron and Triple-A Columbus. He posted a combined 8-11 record with a 3.77 ERA in 27 appearances, including 24 starts. Tonight's game will be his third career start against the Flying Squirrels. He is 0-1 with one a 5.23 ERA against Richmond. Brach boasts a career record of 21- 26 with a 3.42 ERA in 82 appearances, including 75 starts. He was selected by Cleveland in the tenth round of the 2009 June Draft out of Monmouth (NJ) University.

EXTRA, EXTRA: Last night's game marked the 11th time this season the Flying Squirrels have played in an extra-innings contest.

Richmond leads the Eastern League in extra-innings wins (9) and the club has the highest extra-innings winning percentage (.818) of any EL team. Akron ranks second in the league in extra-innings wins (8) and Reading is second in the circuit in winning percentage (.750) in extra frames. Richmond is tied with Trenton and New Hampshire for second in the league in extra-innings games (11).

Akron leads the circuit with 12 extra-innings contests.

WHAT CAN BROWN DO FOR YOU?: Gary Brown followed up his first four-hit game of the season with a 2-for-5 night that included a double and three runs scored. Brown, who recently had a team-high 12-game hitting streak, has now hit safely in 14 of his last 15 games. During this stretch, Brown is batting .406 (26-for-64) with a home run, seven doubles, five RBIs and 14 runs scored. Additionally, he is 5-for-7 in stolen base attempts during this period and has raised his overall average from .236 on June 15 to .269 as of today.

WE WANT MO: Johnny Monell's leadoff home run in the top of the fourth inning last night was his first since May 20th which he also hit at Canal Park in Akron. The 26-year-old went 86 at-bats (29 games) between home runs and was batting just .151 (13-for- 86) over that span. It was just the second home run overall that Monell has hit on the road. Eleven of his 15 career Eastern League home runs have been hit at The Diamond. Four of the five home runs the Bronx, NY, native has hit this season have gone to right field. Last season, only three of the 10 home runs he hit went to right.
