(Portland, ME) - Trenton hit four home runs including a pair from Luke Murton and remained undefeated in doubleheaders as the Thunder swept two from the Portland Sea Dogs, 12-4 and 5-3, Monday night at Hadlock Field. Brett Marshall won his league-high-tying ninth game in the opener and Danny Farquhar picked up a win in his Thunder debut as Trenton improved to 11-0 in twin bill contests on the season (9-0 in seven-inning games).

Murton tied for the league lead in long balls with 16 after clubbing a two-run shot in the opener and a solo blast in the nightcap. Staked to an early 6-0 lead in game one, Marshall (9-3) tossed five innings and allowed three runs in winning his third straight start. Melky Mesa went 4-for-4 with two doubles and four runs scored in that contest, while Zoilo Almonte also went deep.

A two-run shot from Jose Pirela and Murton's solo shot in game two gave Trenton a 3-2 lead into the bottom of the fourth, but an RBI groundout from Jackie Bradley Jr. tied the score at 3. Farquhar (1-1) retired all six he faced to keep the game tied, striking out three in the process.

Damon Sublett singled against Portland starter Jeremy Kehrt (2-2) with one out in the seventh and then stole second base. Jeff Farnham put Trenton ahead with an RBI double to right-center, giving him a six-game hitting streak in limited action. Farnham advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored when Kyle Higashioka, attempting a suicide squeeze, bunted for an RBI single.

Jon Meloan recorded the final out in the nightcap for his first save with Trenton. The Thunder moved back into first place in the Eastern Division standings with the two victories, taking a one-game lead over Reading, which lost to New Hampshire.

Trenton, led by Mesa's four-hit affair, recorded 13 hits in game one. Chris Martin (3-5) allowed six runs in 2.2 innings pitched, while reliever Caleb Clay also was charged with six runs in 3.1 innings of work.

The finale of the five-game series and nine-game road trip will be Tuesday night at 6:00 pm. Left-hander Shaeffer Hall (6-6, 3.97) is expected to start for Trenton while Portland counters with righty Anthony Ranaudo (1-2, 6.23). Radio coverage on 91.3 FM (WTSR) and also streaming online begins at 5:45 pm.
