Erie SeaWolves News Release
The SeaWolves failed to come up with the clutch hit on Thursday night at Metro Bank Park by a final of 4-3 in 12 innings. Erie has now dropped three straight heading into a crucial series with Akron on Wednesday.
Harrisburg took a lead in the bottom of the third against Erie starter Patrick Cooper. Chris Rahl led off with a solo home run to left for a 1-0 lead. Sean Nicol and Eury Perez followed with back-to-back singles. A Jeff Kobernus sacrifice bunt pushed the runners into scoring position and Nicol scored on a wild pitch.
The Senators added to the lead in the fourth. Zach Walters doubled with one out and moved on third on a Sandy Leon single. Walters scored on a Rahl groundout for a 3-0 lead.
Erie climbed back in the game in the fifth. Jordan Lennerton led off with a walk, moving into scoring position on a Brandon Douglas single and scored on a James McCann single making it 3-1.
In the seventh, Tony Plagman led off with a single and he moved to second on a one-out Corey Jones hit. Michael Rockett hit into a force at second for the second out. With runners on the corners, Plagman and Rockett executed a double steal, scoring Plagman, making it a one-run game.
Erie tied the game in the top of the eighth. Niuman Romero and Nick Castellanos each singled putting two on for Lennerton. Lennerton singled home Romero making it 3-3. Lennerton has now hit safely in eight straight and he picked up his 57th RBI.
The game remained tied until the bottom of the 12th. With one out, Jesus Valdez doubled off of Tyler Stohr. The 'Wolves then walked Tim Pahuta to set up a double play. Stohr hit Destin Hood loading the bases for Walters. Walters single to center, scoring Valdez for the Harrisburg win.
The SeaWolves return home on Wednesday night to take on the Akron Aeros.7:05 First Pitch. RHP Cesar Carillo (0-0, 2.25 ERA) takes the mound for Erie against RHP Paolo Espino (2-2, 3.51 ERA).
Following Wednesday night's game there is a spectacular post-game fireworks show presented by the Pennsylvania Lottery.
