
Gilliam Outstanding in Relief, Senators Win 4-3 in 12 Innings

It took four hours and two minutes on Tuesday night, but when all was said and done the Harrisburg Senators came away with a 4-3 win over the Erie SeaWolves. The Senators won for the third straight game and with the win, won five of the eight games on the homestand.
Zach Walters drove in Jesus Valdez with a one-out single in the bottom of the 12th giving Harrisburg the win. Rob Gilliam pitched the 11th and 12th innings, allowing just a single in the two frames.
In the bottom of the 12th, Jesus Valdez doubled with one-out, Tim Pahuta was intentionally walked and Destin Hood was then hit by a pitch setting the stage for Walters.
The Senators took a 2-0 lead in the third inning on a home run by Chris Rahl, his ninth on the year, and a wild pitch allowing Sean Nicol to score. They tacked on a third run in the fourth when Rahl drove in Walters with an rbi ground out.
Erie scored single runs in the fifth, seventh, and eighth innings to tie the game. The teams combined to go 4-for-24 with runners in scoring position and struck out a combined 28 times in the game.
Harrisburg improves to 43-40 on the season while Erie falls to 40-42. The two teams meet again in a three-game series in Erie beginning Saturday night.
The Senators travel to Bowie on Wednesday to start a three-game series against the Baysox. Game time on Wednesday is 6:05 p.m. and the game can be heard on Wednesday on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website, and through the iHeart Radio app on all mobile devices beginning at 5:45 p.m.
