New York City FC News Release
New York City Football Club are on the road this weekend, traveling to Real Salt Lake.
The Boys in Blue head to Utah seeking a first away win of the season.
Ahead of the game, we Flashback to a pair of memorable wins over The Claret and Cobalt...
A Four-Star Performance
A dream start!
Four goals to continue our impressive opening to Season Four...
April 2018's meeting saw the City Boys run riot to continue our record-breaking best start to the campaign - a tally of five wins and a draw.
Patrick Vieira's side marked their return to The Bronx with an emphatic triumph, breaking the deadlock after just 12 minutes and never looking back.
Ismael Tajouri-Shradi opened the scoring with a superb side-footed finish into the top corner for his fourth goal in four games.
Ronald Matarrita then struck the woodwork with an outrageous volleyed effort, but the hosts would not have to wait long to double the advantage, striking again on the half-hour.
It was Maxi Moralez's turn to bag his fourth of the term, stepping up to convert from the penalty spot after he had been upended in the box.
The Boys in Blue made it three before the break as Jo Inge Berget announced himself to the City faithful, latching onto Jesus Medina's through-ball and slotting coolly into the bottom corner to open his NYCFC account.
With a commanding lead, the home side never looked like relinquishing it, and Ebenezer Ofori also netted his first goal for the Club to complete the scoring with 20 minutes to go, sliding home Moralez's cutback to cap a fine night's work.
Quad Goals!
Six and the City...
A night to remember for Taty Castellanos...
Four was the magic number once more, as the forward netted a terrific four goals to inspire the City Boys to our joint-biggest-ever win.
In another April encounter - this one in the 2022 campaign - the two sides locked horns for the sixth time, with NYCFC enjoying another historic effort.
Again, an early goal set the tone as Castellanos nodded home Santiago Rodríguez's corner with just nine minutes gone - the MLS Golden Boot winner's first league goal of the season.
Six minutes later, it was 2-0 when Thiago Andrade collected Talles Magno's pass, rounded goalkeeper Zac MacMath and slid home.
The floodgates swung open before the break with a Castellanos penalty (after Keaton Parks had been caught), and the rout continued into the second period when Andrade doubled his personal tally, finishing off a sweeping counter-attack.
A second successful spot-kick (won and scored by Castellanos) completed his hat-trick two minutes later, and the forward bagged his fourth with just ten minutes of normal time remaining, looping a deflected effort in for the record-equalling sixth.
Héber almost made history in injury time with a seventh - only for his strike to be ruled out - but it did little to spoil a special win for the reigning MLS Cup Champions.
