
Njabulo Blom Named to the South African National Team

ST. LOUIS - St. Louis CITY SC midfielder Njabulo Blom (jah-BOOL-oh) has been named to the South African National team. Blom will join South Africa following the conclusion of CITY SC's match against LA Galaxy on Sunday.
Blom, 23, returns to his national team for the first time since the November 2022 FIFA International window. He missed out on the March 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualification group stage due to COVID. The Dobsonville, Guateng, South African native made his South Africa National Team debut during the 2021 World Cup qualification Group G stage against Ghana on September 6, 2021.
Blom has tallied 18 interceptions which is tied for 22nd amongst MLS midfielders. All midfielders above Blom have played at least 400+ more minutes. When he starts for St. Louis, CITY SC is 4-0-0 and have outscored opponents, 13-2.
Blom and the South Africa National team will face off against Morocco in the Africa Cup of Nations on June 17. This is the fourth match for South Africa in AFCON, tallying a 1-1-1 mark through the previous three group stage matches.
