GARY, Ind. - Chris Carrara went 3-for-4 with three RBI but a five-run sixth inning by the T-Bones buried the RailCats in a 6-4 loss on Wednesday night.

RailCats starter Stephen Hiscock retired the first eight batters he faced, but allowed a solo homer to Devin Goodwin in the third to put the T-Bones ahead 1-0.

The RailCats answered in the bottom of the frame against former RailCat Brian Grening, the starter for Kansas City. Chris Carrara homered to left, his first of the season, to lead off the inning and tie the game at one. David Cooper followed with a double to left and Adam Klein drove him in with an RBI single to give the 'Cats a 2-1 edge. They added a run in the fourth on a two-out bunt single by Carrara, scoring Sean Henry to make it 3-1.

The score stayed that way until the bottom of the sixth. With two on and two out, Enrique Cruz hit a grounder to third that was bobbled by Brian Kolb for an error that allowed a run to score. Hunter Mense hit an RBI single and then Marco Gonzalez came on in relief of Hiscock. Jose Duran greeted him with a three-run double off the wall in left. Goodwin tacked on an RBI single for a five-run inning and a 6-3 lead.

The RailCats tried to rally as Sean Henry led off the eighth inning with a double into the left field corner and then came in to score on Carrara's two out RBI single to bring the RailCats to within 6-4.

Grening (5-2) held the RailCats to three runs in seven innings for the win, while Hiscock (1-3) gave up five runs, one earned in 5 2/3 in the loss.

First pitch of the fourth and final game of the series is at 7:10 PM on Thursday night. It will be Thirsty Thursday at the Steel Yard with $1 Miller Lite and MGD. Morgan Coombs (2-3) will toe the rubber for the RailCats and take on Shaun Garceau (3-0).
