American Association Game Recaps

Published on June 27, 2012 under American Association (AA) News Release

Winnipeg 7, Sioux City 2

The Goldeyes got the scoring started early. Very early. As the team's second man to set foot in the batter's box, CF Chris Roberson hit his seventh home run of the season, a solo shot that was his first of three hits on the night. Winnipeg scored five runs in the first two innings and defeated Sioux City, 7-2. Roberson led all players in hits (3), runs scored (2) and RBI (4). Joining Roberson in the home run club Wednesday night, Goldeyes DH Jon Weber and LF Kyle Day each went yard, accounting for the pair's third and first home runs, respectively. At the plate for Sioux City, RF Mike Bisenius went 2-for-4 and scored both of his club's runs. But it wasn't enough to pull the Explorers back into the game.

Fargo-Moorhead 13, Lincoln 6

The RedHawks scored four runs in three separate innings Wednesday night, defeating Lincoln, 13-6. Fargo-Moorhead DH Sergio Pedroza was one of four RedHawks batters with multiple hits, leading his club in runs and RBI, picking up three each on his 3-for-4 night. Pedroza raised his season average to .311 with the impressive night at the plate. Fargo-Moorhead starting pitcher Tyler Herron threw six innings and allowed four runs on eight hits and a walk with five strikeouts. The Saltdogs went the first four innings without registering a run. But back-to-back two-run frames in the fifth and sixth did in the RedHawks shutout. Lincoln 1B Tommy Collaro got the Saltdogs scoring started with a two-run blast in the fifth, his only hit of the night and his fourth home run of the year.

Wichita 6 St. Paul 5

The Wingnuts rallied and rallied strong against St. Paul on Tuesday, scoring six runs in the bottom of the ninth to take a walkoff, 6-5 victory. Wichita hit four extra-base hits, including two home runs in the frame. But it was a bases-loaded walk that earned the home club the win. With men on all three bags, Wingnuts RF David Peralta watched four consecutive pitches outside of the strike zone to force in 2B Jake Kahaulelio and give his club the victory. Earlier in the inning, Wingnuts LF Jared McDonald hit a three-run shot to pull Wichita within one run. It was McDonald's only hit of the game and accounted for his fourth home run of the year. St. Paul built its 5-0 lead across several innings, scoring one run in five out of six innings beginning in the second. But slow and steady did not win the race, as Wichita sprinted to the finish line to pick up the victory.
