Johnny Bench Finalists on Hand at Tonight's Game

WICHITA, KS- The 2012 Johnny Bench Award finalists will be throwing out the first pitch before tonight's game between the Wichita Wingnuts and the St. Paul Saints.
Catchers Mitchell Garver (University of New Mexico), Kevin Plawecki (Purdue University), and Mike Zunino (University of Florida) will be on hand. Hall of Fame catcher Johnny Bench will also make a special appearance. The three finalists will be available for autographs during the second and third innings. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
The Johnny Bench Award, presented by BaseballSavings.com, is awarded annually to the nation's top collegiate catcher. The 2012 winner will be announced Thursday night at the 15th annual Greater Wichita Sports Banquet. Wingnuts' third baseman Juan Richardson has been nominated for Professional Athlete of the Year.
