
Fisher Cats Rally in Eighth to Get Past Ponies in Series Finale

MANCHESTER, NH - The New Hampshire Fisher Cats (15-17) scored four runs in the eighth inning to pull past the Binghamton Rumble Ponies 5-4 in the series finale Sunday afternoon at Delta Dental Stadium. The two teams split the six-game series.
With the Ponies ahead 4-1 entering the bottom of the eighth, Phil Clarke drove home LJ Talley from second on an RBI single to make it 4-2. Two batters later, Will Robertson doubled down the right field line to score Clarke and make it a one-run game. Later in the frame, with runners on first and second with two out, John Aiello hit a two-run double off Yeizo Campos (2-1) to right center that put the Fisher Cats on top 5-4. Parker Caracci retired the Ponies in order in the ninth for his third save of the year.
Binghamton (11-21) got off to a hot start taking a 2-0 lead in the first on a Ronny Mauricio two-run double. With the Ponies ahead 2-1, Jeremy Vasquez lead off the sixth inning with a solo blast to right, his third homer of the year, to put Binghamton up by two. Vasquez finished 2-3 with two runs scored.
In the top of the eighth, with runners on second and third with one out, Francisco Alvarez singled to left to drive home Vasquez from third and extend the lead to 4-1. Alvarez has now driven in three runs over his last two games and is on a five-game hitting streak.
Jose Chacin pitched two scoreless frames in the start. Trey Cobb pitched three scoreless frames in relief dropping his ERA to 0.68.
The Rumble Ponies are off on Monday and open a six-game homestand against the Akron RubberDucks on Tuesday. First pitch is at 11:05 AM for Baseball in Education Day at Mirabito Stadium, with pregame coverage getting underway on CBS Sports Radio 1360 at 10:50 AM.
Postgame Notes: Despite his 12-game hitting streak coming to a close, Jake Mangum reached base four times with two walks, a hit by pitch, and via an error...Alvarez and Wyatt Young both had multi-hit games...The Ponies finished their 12-game road trip 5-7.
