New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release

Norwich, CT---On April 20, Fisher Cats southpaw Fabio Castro struck out 10 batters, including a franchise-record eight consecutive. That scoreless game was suspended due to rain after five innings and completed Saturday night with New Hampshire falling 1-0 to the Connecticut Defenders at Dodd Stadium.

Brad Boyer homered off Brandon Magee on the first pitch of the bottom of the ninth inning to give Connecticut (19-16) a 1-0 win over New Hampshire (20-16). It was Boyer's first home run of the season.

Ben Snyder worked four scoreless innings to earn the win. He allowed one hit (an Adam Calderone single), walked one and struck out three.

The regularly scheduled game last night was suspended after one inning due to fog with Connecticut leading 1-0. The Defenders scored a run off starter Randy Boone when New Hampshire lost sight of a fly ball off the bat of Eddy Martinez-Esteve due to the weather conditions. Brett Pill, who had reached on a fielders choice, scored the run. The umpires stopped the game after that half-inning.

The teams will complete the game, which will be nine innings, at 12:05pm on Sunday. A seven-inning game will follow.

RHP Casey Janssen (0-0, 1.50) and RHP Rey Gonzalez will be pitching for New Hampshire against Connecticut RHP Madison Bumgarner (1-0, 1.50) and a starter to be determined. Radio coverage begins at 11:45am with the BayRing Pre-Game Show on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network with Bob Lipman.

The Fisher Cats return home next Friday night, May 22, to open a series against the Trenton Thunder at 7:05pm. It will be Law Enforcement Night at Merchantsauto.com Stadium, and it's also David Ortiz Bobblehead Giveaway Night, courtesy of Sovereign Bank.
