AKRON, OH - The Cleveland Indians announced yesterday that 2009 first-round pick Alex White will be promoted to Akron and make his first Double-A Sunday at Canal Park. No official corresponding move has been made yet to make room for White on the Aeros 24-man roster. The game Sunday will begin at 1:35 p.m. against the Harrisburg Senators.

The 21-year-old right-handed White made his first eight professional minor league starts earlier this year for the Class A Kinston Indians. In 44.0 innings pitched, he was 2-3 with a 2.86 ERA along with 41 strikeouts against 19 walks. Opponents batted .204 against him on the season and he ranked among the top six in the Carolina League in ERA, innings pitched and batting average against.

He was the 15th overall selection of the June 2009 draft out of North Carolina. In his three years in college, he combined to go 27-14 with a 3.87 ERA in 55 games (49 starts) while also leading the Tar Heels to three straight appearances in the College World Series.

Sunday's game will also feature another Family Pack special as anyone can purchase a package of four tickets, four soft drinks, four hot dogs and four bags of chips for only $48! The first 2,000 fans will also receive free logo baseballs from BPI Information Systems and kids will be able to run the bases following the contest sponsored by Smith Dairy.

The Aeros continue their weeklong home stand tonight at Canal Park at 7:05 p.m. against the Senators. The contest will feature a team poster giveaway courtesy of Busson Digital Printing as Akron's Paolo Espino (3-2, 3.98 ERA) matches up against Harrisburg left-hander Tom Milone (4-1, 3.14 ERA). Saturday's game broadcast begins at 6:50 p.m. on SportsRadio 1350 AM and online at www.akronaeros.com. For more information, please call the Aeros at (330) 253-5151.
