Altoona Curve News Release

ERIE, Pa - In the nightcap of the double-header, Altoona sent home three runs in the first inning off of SeaWolves starter Ramon Gacia. That proved to be a capable springboard to propel the Curve to sweep the twin bill with a 7-3 victory in game two.

Five Altoona Curve players had two-hit games for the Curve (Gorkys Hernandez, Jim Negrych, Josh Harrison, Alex Presley and Kris Watts).

After Altoona jumped out to a 3-0 edge over Erie, the SeaWolves would tie the game in the bottom of the second off of starting pitcher Derek Hankins. Five straight Erie (23-20) batters reached, and highlighting the frame was as two-run triple by Jeff Kunkle while Chris White singled home the tying run.

Altoona (26-16) would break the tie when Presley tripled home Harrison in the third. Watts would homer - a solo shot - in the fourth to extend the Curve lead to 5-3.

The Curve would put the game away in the top of the seventh inning with a pair of runs scoring on an RBI double by Matt Hague and a Harrison RBI single.

Altoona's 26-16 record is the high-water mark for the team in the 2010 season, tying the 20-10 mark the Curve enjoyed on May 11 following a 9-1 over Harrisburg.

The Curve will look for the four-game sweep on Sunday at 1:05 p.m. LHP Justin Wilson (1-4, 3.71) for Altoona takes on Erie's Andy Oliver (4-1, 3.79). Air time on flagship station ESPN Radio 1430, WVAM and Altoona Curve Radio Network affiliates begins at 12:35 p.m.
