ABOUT LAST GAME: Rome bested the visiting Fireflies at State Mutual Stadium on Friday, 7-1. The Atlanta Brave rehab starter Mike Soroka hurled 3.2 perfect innings of work. Raphael Gladu tallied three of Columbia's four hits.
STREAKIN': Outfielder Raphael Gladu extended his franchise-record hit streak to 17 straight games on Friday. Gladu tied Asheville's Shael Mendoza (17 games, April 17-May 10) for the longest hit streak in the SAL and all of low-A baseball in 2018. Gladu is hitting .377 (23-for-61) during the hit streak.

ANOTHER STELLAR MATCHUP: Today, David Peterson (Mets 2017 1st round draft choice) faces Bruce Zimmerman (Braves 2017 5th round draft choice) on the mound. The two southpaw were terrific in the month of May:
- Peterson: 5 GS, 1.10 ERA, 4 ER, 32.2 IP, 32 K, 8 BB
- Zimmerman: 6 GS, 4-1, 1.72 ERA, 7 ER, 36.2 IP, 53 K, 12 BB
MAY STARS: Raphael Gladu led the team with a .325 batting average in May, but Blake Tiberi (.294) and Matt Winaker (.284) were not far behind. Tiberi (.415) and Winaker (.410) led the club in on-base percentage. Columbia's starters posted a 2.97 ERA in the month, led by David Peterson: 1.10 ERA (4 ER, 32.2 IP).
SUPERB VISON: Columbia is one of two teams in MiLB with three players leading their respective league in total walks, the other being the Fresno Grizzlies (HOU):

Tiberi, Vasquez and Winaker have drawn 93 total walks, that's the second-highest total for a trio of players in MiLB (of course, behind this trio from Fresno--110).
ON THIS DATE, 2017: Columbia defeats Hagerstown, 8-7, in 10 inn. in a game that featured four ties, two lead changes, three runs in both the top and bottom of the 9th and one Brandon Brosher solo homer in the 10th to put the Fireflies up for good.
