
Legends Beat GreenJackets in Game Three 8-5,

WHITAKER BANK BALLPARK (Lexington, KY) - The Lexington Legends and Augusta Greenjackets met for game three on Saturday evening, and the Legends took game three 8-5. Seuly Matias finished the game with two home runs, now with 17 on the season, leading all of Minor League Baseball.
The Legends struck first in the bottom of the second inning. Dennicher Carrasco reached on a leadoff single to left field. Matias then blasted his first home run of the game to put the Legends on top, 2-0.
In the bottom of the third, Ricky Aracena drew a leadoff walk for the Legends. Brewer Hicklen popped a sacrifice fly to right field, allowing Aracena to score and the Legends led 3-0.
In the top of the fourth, Ryan Kirby lined a double up the middle for the Greenjackets. Shane Matheny brought him home with an RBI single to right field and Augusta was on the board, 3-1.
Cristian Perez lined a double down the left field line in the bottom of the fifth for Lexington. He then advanced to third on a single by Ricky Aracena. Travis Jones then hit a groundball to Augusta's shortstop, Manuel Geraldo allowing Perez to score, extending the Legends' lead 4-1.
The Greenjackets plated two more runs in the sixth. Ryan Kirby lined a double into right field then advanced to third on a single by Geraldo. An RBI single by Orland Garcia scored Kirby and an RBI double by Jeffry Para brought home Garcia. After the sixth, the Legends led 4-3.
In the bottom of the seventh, Perez reached on his second hit of the night for the Legends, a single to right field. Jones then joined him on the base path after Augusta committed a fielding error. Hicklen then brought them both home on two-run double down the right field line, extending Lexington's lead 6-3.
The Legends scored their final runs of the game in the bottom of the eighth. Carrasco reached on a leadoff single then Matias smacked his second homer of the night, putting Lexington up 8-3. Matias now has 17 home runs this season, with five in five games. He leads all of Minor League Baseball in homers.
Augusta scored their final runs in the top of the ninth inning. Nick Hill hit a two-run homer to make it a 8-5 ballgame, in favor of the Legends.
Andres Sotillet earned the win for Lexington, tossing 5.2 innings allowing three runs on nine hits while walking two and striking out three. Tad Ratliff pitched in relief, throwing 1.1 shutout innings allowing three hits with one strikeout. Jacob Condra-Bogan was awarded the save, pitching 2.0 innings allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits with one walk and one strikeout.
The same two teams meet tomorrow, June 3 at 2:05 p.m. for the series finale at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. RHP Nolan Watson (3-5, 6.56 ERA) will be on the mound for the Legends and will face RHP Junior Marte (NR) for the Greenjackets.
