LAST TIME OUT: The Fireflies closed out its home schedule in style with a 7-3 victory over the RiverDogs on Thursday. Marcel Renteria guided Columbia to the win after posting a career-high eight innings (6 H, 3 ER, 6 K, 0 BB).
PUT IT IN THE BOOKS: Columbia finished its home schedule on Thursday night. The Fireflies were an even 34-34 at home. The 2018 season at Spirit Communications Park was filled with great fun and breath-taking excitement. Take a look back at the best moments.
LET'S PLAY TWO?: On Friday, Columbia and Augusta complete a suspended game from July 29 (the Fireflies lead, 2-0, with no outs in the bottom of the fifth). Once that game is completed, the two teams will play their originally scheduled August 31st game. That game will last seven innings.
LATE-SEASON SURGE: The Fireflies are 10-5 over their last 15 games. These five hitters have produced over the last 15 games (since August 12):
- Hansel Moreno (15 GP) - .328 (21-for-64), 12 R, 3 2B, 4 HR, 11 RBI, 10 SB
- Jose Brizuela (14 GP) - .308 (16-for-52), 8 R, 3 2B, HR, 5 RBI

BACK, BACK, BACK...GONE!: Columbia blasted nine homers during its eight-game homestand. As a team, the Fireflies have drilled 85 homers in 2018, a new single-season team record. The Fireflies have 27 in August (25 games). That's second only to Asheville (31 in 27 games) in the SAL.
RECORDS ON RECORD ON RECORDS: Tony Dibrell has struck out 138 batters in 125 innings this year. That's the new single-season Fireflies record after the righty passed Joe Shaw (134 in 2016) on Tuesday. That's not all. Edgardo Fermin's triple on Tuesday was his seventh of the year, tying him with Kevin Kaczmarski (2016) for the most in a single season. On Thursday, Matt Winaker smashed his 13th home run of the year, tying him for single-season franchise record:
1. Matt Winaker (2018), Dash Winningham & Brandon Brosher (2017) - 13
2. Dash Winningham (2016) - 12
3. Scott Manea (2018) - 11
DOMINATION: Friday starter Luc Rennie has owned Augusta over two starts.
