Firebirds & Spirit Face-Off in I-75 Divide Cup Wednesday

Flint, Mich. - The Flint Firebirds face-off against in-state rival Saginaw Spirit Wednesday night for game three of the I-75 Divide Cup, sponsored by Coors Light. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. (ET) at the Dort Federal Credit Union Event Center in Flint.

Wednesday marks the second of four meetings at the Dort Federal Event Center this season and the third of eight total match-ups during the 2018-19 regular season. All-time, Flint is 11-13-0-2 against Saginaw. At home, the Firebirds are 7-4-0-2 versus the Spirit. Of the 26 regular-season OHL games played between these two clubs, eight games have been decided by just one goal, seven of which required overtime. Flint is 5-3 in one-goal games with Saginaw.

On Saturday, the Firebirds were victim to a last-minute power-play goal by the Mississauga Steelheads, falling 5-4 after leading for the majority of the game. In the contest, Jake Durham scored his team-leading 10th tally of the season to increase his point-streak to six games, Ty Dellandrea (Dallas Stars) extended his point-streak to 10 games with a goal, Fedor Gordeev (Toronto Maple Leafs) scored his first goal of the campaign and C.J. Clarke picked up his third of the season. Eric Uba has scored a goal in four of the past five games. Defenseman Vladislav Kolyachonok has eight points on the season which averages out to a point-per-game. Last Friday, Kolyachonok notched three assists against second-place Sault Ste. Marie. Saginaw was defeated on the road by the Windsor Spitfires 7-1 on Sunday.
