Sioux Falls Canaries News Release

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - As the Pheasants head into the final week of the regular season, one thing is certain: the Sioux Falls Pheasants open a seven-game homestand tonight to finish the regular season. To be determined: the second-half division winner and the Pheasants' opponent for the playoffs which begin next week.

The Pheasants enter tonight's game against the Lincoln Saltdogs in first place, holding a slim one-half game lead over the Wichita Wingnuts. Sioux Falls won the first-half title and seeks to become just the third team in league history to win both halves in one year. There are seven games remaining, all at Sioux Falls Stadium. The Pheasants host Lincoln for three contests and the St. Paul Saints for four.

If the Pheasants win the second-half division race outright, a wild card playoff spot goes to the next best overall record. That can still go to anyone else in the division. Lincoln owns that position right now, but just 2 1/2 games separate the four teams vying for the final postseason spot.

The Pheasants will host Games 1 and 2 of the divisional series on Tuesday, August 31 and Wednesday, September 1 at 7:05 p.m. Two opponents within each division square off in a best-of-five series, with the same format to follow in the championship round.

Fans can purchase individual tickets or a package of all five potential home dates. Group rates are available as well as space in the party decks and sky suites. To purchase tickets, they can call the Pheasants at 333-0179, visit online at www.sfpheasants.com or stop by in person, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The Sioux Falls Fighting Pheasants are members of the American Association, a 10-team independent professional baseball league playing its fifth season this summer. Advertising and ticket information is available by calling (605) 333-0179 or visiting www.sfpheasants.com.
