Final Regular Season Contest Goes Inside the Brandt Centre

Regina, Sask. - It's fan appreciation night inside the Brandt Centre presented by Mosaic as the Regina Pats host the Prince Albert Raiders on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.

Tonight's contest will mark game #68 on the schedule for both clubs, as the Pats and Raiders wrap up their regular season schedule today. Here on fan appreciation night, the Regina Pats will be holding their annual pre-game awards ceremony where they will be handing out their team awards for the season.

The Pats round one opponent was confirmed last night with the Pats 3-2 loss to the Saskatoon Blades as the Pats will take on the Blades in the 2023 WHL playoffs as the sixth seed and the Blades as the third seed.

In the 3-2 loss to Saskatoon last night, the Pats trailed 2-0 after two and scored two quick goals in the third the nod the game 2-2 before Trevor Wong would score the go-ahead goal midway through the third.

Tanner Howe and Sam Oremba scored for the Pats as their two game winning-streak came to an end. Drew Sim made 28 saves in the loss. The Blades got a two goal game from Brandon Lisowsky as well as a 22 save performance from Austin Elliott.

The Raiders on the other hand are coming off a 5-3 loss to the Moose Jaw Warriors at home on Friday, as they've now dropped their last three games. Moose Jaw once had a 3-0 lead before Sloan Stanick scored twice and Naill Crocker added a single to tie it. The Warriors would score twice in the third to regain the lead. The final shots were 32-30 for Prince Albert. Max Hildebrand made 24 saves. The Warriors finished 1-3 on the power play while the Raiders went 3-5 on their power play.

The Prince Albert Raiders miss the playoffs for the first time since the 2016-17 season. During their recent losing-streak, they've lost to Moose Jaw and Winnipeg twice during that stretch, outscored 15-to-5 during that time. The Raiders last win came 4-3 over the Brandon Wheat Kings on March 17.

The Pats are 16-10-2 over their last 28 GP since Jan. 8, which is when Connor Bedard returned from the World Juniors, defeating Calgary 2x (6-2 & 6-5), Saskatoon 2x (7-4 & 4-2), Portland (4-3), Swift Current (5-2), Lethbridge 2x (3-2 & 4-2), Moose Jaw 2x (8-4 & 7-3), Medicine Hat (6-3), Brandon 3x (4-3, 6-3, 6-3), Winnipeg (5-3) & Red Deer (6-5)...during that time, they have outscored their opp. 123-to-116.

Regina has clinched a playoff berth for the first time since the 2017-18 season and will play the Blades in round one...the Pats have now made the playoffs 15 times since the 1999-2000 season...the last time they were in, they lost in the Eastern Conference quarter-final.

Mar. 19 at SAS, Connor Bedard scored his 70th goal becoming the first WHL player to reach 70 goals since Jayden Halbgewachs in 2017-18...the last player to score 70+ goals as a 17-year-old was Pavel Brendl in 1998-1999...Dale Derkatch was the last Pat' to do so (1983-84)

142: Points (70G-72A) in 55 games for captain Connor Bedard leads the WHL as well as his 72 assists...since having his 35-game point-streak end on Feb. 3, he's recorded 52 points (26G-26A) over his last 19 games, with points in 16 of those...he's recorded 9G-8A-17PTS last 5GP.

3: Wins in four games last week for the Regina Pats as they took six of a possible eight points while playing four games in five nights, as well as winning two of three over their three-in-three weekend...the Pats have gathered 17 of a possible 24 points in three-in-threes this season.

209: Total wins for GM and Head Coach John Paddock as coach of the Pats is now second in all-time franchise history as he passed Murray Armstrong (206) on Mar. 15...he picked up his 200th win as coach of the Pats on Feb. 11.

40: Number of points (5G-35A) in 27 games for Stanislav Svozil since coming back from the World Juniors on Jan. 13...the Czechia product is tied for first amongst defencemen in assists with 67 and third in points with 77...his 1.40 points/game is second amongst all defencemen.

5: Game point-streak for forward Tanner Howe (3G-3A-6PTS), with goals in three of those five contests...the Prince Albert, SK product has also gathered at least a point in nine of his last 12 games (7G-8A-15PTS)...he's also scored in back-to-back games.
