Final Barons Buddies Event Is Tomorrow
March 11, 2015 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Oklahoma City Barons News Release
Oklahoma City - The Oklahoma City Barons host the final Barons Buddies event of the season on Thursday, March 12, at Andy Alligator's in Norman from 6:30-9:30 p.m.
The Barons Buddies Program utilizes an existing relationship with Special Olympics Oklahoma. Each player on the Barons roster is paired with a Special Olympics Athlete. The team and athlete meet on three occasions during the season to form a permanent bond.
The first Barons Buddies event was a meet-and-greet earlier this season at the Cox Convention Center. The second event was a bowling party at Dust Bowl in MidTown. The team hosted its annual Special Olympics Night on February 28. The Barons wore special jerseys featuring the Barons Buddies logo. The jerseys were auctioned off following the game and raised in excess of $21,000 for the program. Over the last four seasons, the Barons have raised over $100,000 for Special Olympics Oklahoma.
The Barons continue a season long seven-game homestand with a pair of games this weekend against the Charlotte Checkers. Faceoff Saturday is at 7 p.m., while faceoff Sunday is 4 p.m.
