Figueroa Placed on Temporary Inactive List, Perez Joins Bees

SALT LAKE CITY (August 10, 2010) - The Salt Lake Bees announced today that the club has placed infielder Luis Figueroa on the Temporary Inactive List (personal reasons) and promoted infielder Darwin Perez to Salt Lake from Single-A Rancho Cucamonga.

Figueroa, 36, hit .300 with 10 doubles, three home runs and 25 RBI in 31 games for the Bees in 2010. Prior to signing with the Angels on July 6, he appeared in 62 games for Triple-A Las Vegas this season, hitting .326 with 15 doubles and 35 RBI. The Bayamon, Puerto Rico native originally signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates as a free agent in 1997.

Perez, 21, has appeared in 77 games for Rancho Cucamonga in 2010, hitting .253 with five doubles, seven triples, two home runs, 18 RBI and 10 stolen bases. In 11 games for the Bees this season, he hit .179 with six RBI. The Maracay, Venezuela native signed with the Angels as a free agent in 2005.
