ROUND ROCK, Texas - Dallas McPherson's tie-breaking, three-run homer in the top of the fifth propelled the Sacramento River Cats past the Round Rock Express 5-1 Tuesday night at The Dell Diamond. The Express (49-69) saw their season-best tying four-game winning streak snapped, while the River Cats (63-55) stopped a three-game skid. Round Rock leads the series two games to one.

Corey Wimberly walked to open the fifth, and he later moved to third on Travis Buck's one-out double. McPherson followed with his 14th home run of the season on the first pitch of the at bat.

That made a winner of Sacramento starter Bobby Cramer (1-0), who allowed one run on seven hits and a walk with six strikeouts over 5.0 innings. Fernando Hernandez scattered two hits and a walk with one strikeout over 1.2 scoreless innings of relief. Justin James retired the games final seven batters with three strikeouts for his first save.

Express starter Jordan Lyles (0-1) took the loss in his Triple-A debut. The 19-year-old right-hander tallied nine strikeouts over 6.0 innings but allowed four runs on eight hits, including two home runs. Lyles also walked one and hit a batter.

Matt Carson led off the top of the second with his 10th home run of the season; it was the first hit allowed by Lyles. Round Rock tied the game in the bottom of the third when Brian Bogusevic singled with two outs, stole second and scored on Chris Shelton's RBI single.

McPherson capped the scoring in the top of the ninth, lining a two-out RBI double off the wall in right. He finished the night 2-for-5 with four RBI, while Buck was 3-for-4 with a walk. Eric Sogard and Adrian Cardenas each had two hits.

Tommy Manzella, in his first of five rehab assignment games with the Express, was 2-for-4 and had the lone multiple-hit game for the Express. Seven of the other eight Round Rock starters had one hit; all nine hits were singles.

Round Rock and Sacramento conclude the four-game series Wednesday with a 7:05 p.m. CDT first pitch at The Dell Diamond. Right-hander Josh Banks (8-8, 3.60 ERA) will start for the Express, while right-hander Brett Tomko (0-0, 0.00 ERA) is slated to start for the River Cats.

The Round Rock Express, owned and operated by Ryan Sanders Baseball, LP, is the Triple-A affiliate of the Houston Astros and a member of the Pacific Coast League.
