Fightins Blasted by Senators

The Fightin Phils fell behind early against Harrisburg and it was too much to overcome as the Harrisburg Senators defeated the Fightin Phils 9-4. Doug Fister made a rehab start for the Senators as he went 3 2/3 innings and allowed two runs off two hits with three walks and five strikeouts.

Harrisburg started the game in style as Kevin Keyes hit his first home run of the season off Hoby Milner to give the Senators a 1-0 lead. Jason Martinson tacked on another run in the top of the fourth inning as he hit his first home run of the season to give the Senators a 2-0 lead. Michael Taylor provided another home run for the Senators as he hit a three-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to give Harrisburg a 5-0 lead.

Reading got on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning off Senators starter Doug Fister as Aaron Altherr hit a RBI double to score Cameron Perkins and Lars Davis grounded out to bring him Brock Stassi. The Fightin Phils cut the Senators lead to 5-2 heading into the top of the fifth inning.

Harrisburg added two more runs off Milner in the top of the sixth inning as Brian Jeroloman hit a two-run home run to take a 7-2 lead. Milner left after 5 1/3 innings of work in which he allowed seven earned runs off nine hits with three walks and five strikeouts. The Fightin Phils got a little more offense in the bottom of the seventh inning as Cesar Hernandez hit a two-run home run off Richie Mirowski to cut the Senators lead to 7-4.

Harrisburg scored a run in the top of the eighth inning off Nefi Ogando and added another run in the top of the ninth inning off Austin Wright to take a 9-4 lead. Hoby Milner earned his second loss of the season.

The Fightin Phils and Harrisburg Senators play on Saturday at FirstEnergy Stadium at 6:35 pm.
