Senators Slug Their Way to 9-4 Win over Reading

Harrisburg, PA - On Friday night in Reading the Senators blasted four home runs in their 9-4 win over Reading. Harrisburg won their second straight, fourth in their past five games and moved to 8-17 on the year while Reading dropped to 12-12.

Doug Fister started for the Senators, in his final rehab start before making his first start for the Nationals next week, and tossed 3.2 innings. Neil Holland earned the victory, tossing 2.1 scoreless innings. Holland was followed by Richie Mirowski, Tyler Herron and Warner Madrigal. All told the bullpen tossed 5.1 innings and allowed five hits and two runs with five strikeouts.

Kevin Keyes (1) homered leading off the second to give the Sens a 1-0 lead. Jason Martinson (1) made it 2-0 with a solo blast to center leading off the fourth. Michael Taylor followed with a three-run home run in the fourth, his sixth on the season. Brian Jeroloman hit a two-run shot in the sixth, his second in as many days, to give the Sens a 7-2 lead. With the score 7-4, the Senators tacked on single runs in the eighth and ninth innings. Keyes, Martinson, Jeroloman and Sean Nicol all had two hits in the game.

Game two of the three game series is Saturday evening at 6:35 p.m. the game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket and on iHeart Radio beginning with the pregame show at 6:20 p.m.
