The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that Goaltender Sean Fields has been re-assigned to the team from the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League.

Fields played in one game with the Bruins making a relief appearance in the Bruins 6-3 loss to the Hartford Wolfpack. He made 19 saves in 38:33 of action last Saturday night for Providence.

The Edmonton, Alberta native has appeared in 26 games this season for the Gladiators posting a 2.89 goals against average and a .904 save percentage. He has compiled a 17-6-3 record for the Gladiators during that span.

A two time ECHL Goalie of the Week, Fields was originally added as an emergency back up goaltender last season for the Gladiators on December 3rd, he was signed on December 5th backstopping the Gladiators to a 4-2 win that day. He finished his rookie 2004-05 season posting a 21-7-2 record and a 2.48 goals against average for the Gladiators.

In four seasons at Boston University, Fields was named the team's Most Valuable Player in 2002-03 and 2003-04 and set numerous records including wins (62), saves (3066) and minutes (7308). Fields is the only player in history to win the Eberly Trophy for outstanding goaltender and the MVP award in back-to-back Beanpot Tournaments (2003 and 2004).

Fields should be available for the Gladiators for Saturday's 7:05 p.m. tilt in Columbia against the Inferno.

The Gwinnett Gladiators continue the 2005-06 ECHL season on the road as they travel to Columbia on Friday, January 28th as they battle the Inferno at 7:05 p.m. The Gladiators offer several ticket packages for different needs as well as group outings, suites and birthday parties.
