Alaska Aces News Release

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Senior Vice President and General Manager Larry Pleau of the St. Louis Blues has announced that the club has placed goaltender Jason Bacashihua on injured reserve and called up Alaska's Chris Beckford-Tseu.

Beckford-Tseu, who stopped 21 of 23 shots to beat Stockton 5-2 Friday and improve his record to 13-1-2 in an Aces sweater, had been scheduled to start the ECHL All-Star Game in Fresno, Calif., this Wednesday. He will be replaced on the all-star roster by his opponent in net Friday, Thunder goaltender Jake Moreland. The 21-year-old Beckford-Tseu leads the ECHL with a 1.97 GAA and ranks second with a .926 save percentage. He has been named ECHL Goaltender of the Week twice and also was ECHL Goaltender of the Month for October.

Originally a fifth-round pick of the Blues in 2003, Beckford-Tseu backed up for St. Louis in a home game against Philadelphia December 17, one night after starting for the Aces in a game at Victoria. The Toronto native faces a busy schedule this week, with the Canucks tonight at 4:00 p.m. AST, a road game at Dallas Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. AST, and a home match against Phoenix Thursday at 4:00 p.m. AST.

Alex Leavitt, who scored twice and assisted on seven others in Alaska's three-game sweep of Stockton last weekend, and defenseman Ryan Gaucher will represent the Aces in Wednesday's ECHL All-Star Game in Fresno, Calif., at 6:00 p.m. AST. The Aces, currently 30-6-3 and owners of the best winning percentage in the league, return to action next weekend at Sullivan Arena against the Augusta Lynx (17-20-3), Saturday at 2:05 p.m. AST and Sunday at 5:05 p.m. AST. All Alaska Aces games, home and away, are broadcast live on KFQD AM 750 and at www.alaskaaces.com. In addition, all home games and selected road contests will be available on a pay-per-view basis on the internet, courtesy of B2 Networks.
