
Fiddler-Schultz and Yakemchuk Named to WHL Central Division All-Star Teams

Calgary, AB - The Western Hockey League announced today the First and Second Central Division All Star Teams for the 2022-23 season. Two Hitmen players have graced this year's lists. Riley Fiddler-Schultz has been named to the WHL Central Division First All Star Team, while defenceman Carter Yakemchuk has been named to the WHL Central Division Second All Star Team.
Captain Riley Fiddler-Schultz had a career best season in the WHL with a new career high in goals and assists recording 31 goals and 44 assists for 75 points. Season highlights include a five goal performance vs the Prince Albert Raiders on October 23rd, tying the franchise record for most goals in a game. The record was previously set by Pavel Brendl on November, 11th 2000. The centreman also lead the league in face offs won with 885. The graduating forward was drafted by the Hitmen in round seven of the WHL Prospects draft in 2017 and has spent his entire career with the Hitmen. The forward has played 246 regular season games, and 11 post season games with the club registering 78 goals and 113 assists for 191 points.
Carter Yakemchuk also had a career best season in his second year with the club. The defenceman was drafted by Calgary in the third round of the 2020 WHL Prospects draft. Yakemchuk finished the season third in defenceman scoring with 19 goals and first in power play goals amongst defenceman with 15. The 19 goals scored by Carter Yakemchuk, is the most by a Hitmen defenceman since Jake Bean set a franchise record with 24 in the 2015-16 season.

Calgary now enters the first round of the 2023 WHL Playoffs presented by Nutrien. The Club with face the Red Deer Rebels with games one and two in Red Deer on Friday, March 31 and Saturday, April 1. The teams will then return to the Scotiabank Saddledome for game three on Mon. April 3 and game four on Wed. April 5 both 7:00 p.m. start times.
