Hudson Thornton & Riley Heidt Named BC Division 2nd Team All-Stars

PRINCE GEORGE BC - The Western Hockey League has announced today that defenceman Hudson Thornton and forward Riley Heidt have been named BC Division 2nd team all-stars.

Thornton, 19, has broken multiple team records with the Cats this season. The Winnipeg, MB product became the Cougars all-time single season points (74) and goals (23) leader among defencemen. Thornton finished the 2022-23 campaign with 74 points in 68 games which led all Cougars blue-liners. Thornton is a big part of the Cougar power-play which finished 2nd in the WHL. Thornton had 12 power-play goals and 23 power-play assists. In his WHL career thus far, Thornton owns 122 points (38G-84A) in just 139 games played.

Heidt, 17, also put together a historic 2022-23 campaign. Heidt became the Cougars all-time single season assist leader (72), passing Jansen Harkins record in 2014-15. Heidt's 72 assists this season finished him tied for the league lead with projected first overall pick in the upcoming NHL Draft, Connor Bedard. Like Thornton, Heidt is an integral part of the PG power-play. The Saskatoon, SK product owns 39 power-play assists this season which also led the WHL. In 68 games this season, Heidt finished with 97 points (25G-72A).
