Rapid City Rush News Release
(Rapid City, SD) - Going into Friday night, the Rapid City Rush had a two point lead on Quad City as they hosted the Mallards at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center for the first time this season. Lead by Jeff Kryzakos, Tim Boron, and Konrad Reeder the Rush topped the Mallards 4-1 as they picked up two points. With the victory Rush head coach Joe Ferras moved past Garry Unger into sixth place on the all time CHL wins list. The two teams hit the ice again tomorrow at 7:05, and tickets are available by calling 716-7825 or online at gotmine.com.
The Mallards entered the weekend boasting the league's number one power play and they scored on their first power play opportunity of the night. Eric Giosa sniped the game's first goal at the 6:54 mark in the first period to put Quad City up 1-0. The Rush responded on Konrad Reeder's team leading 26th goal of the season when he swatted the puck out of mid air at the top of the crease. Scott Wray tallied his 18th goal of the year later in the period when he fired a one timer from the slot on a beautiful pass from Mike Vaskivuo.
It took until the 8:01 mark in the third period before the Rush got an insurance goal from Patrick Knowlton. The rookie scored his 3rd of the season with a nifty move around Mallard goaltender David McKee giving the Rush a 3-1 lead. The evening was capped off when Kryzakos capitalized on a broken play as he slid a shot through the pads of McKee bringing the game to its 4-1 final.
Boron was stellar in net for Rapid City as he picked up his 14th win of the season making 27 saves on 28 shots.
