Dayton, OH - The Dayton Gems struggled early and would be unable to find their stride against the Missouri Mavericks, falling at home 4-0 on Friday night to open a three game weekend homestand. The loss evens the season record against the Mavs to 2-2-0.
Andrew Courtney had two goals to lead Missouri to victory. Courtney's tallies came at 1:29 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Missouri and short handed 8:57 into the second to make the score 4-0 Missouri.
The Mavericks put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Dayton to score on any of its four power plays.
