February 24, 2012 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Fort Worth Brahmas News Release
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (February 24) - The Brahmas have won seven straight games dating back to February 10 and will face off against the Tulsa Oilers at the BOK Center tonight with the opportunity to meet a franchise record, eight wins in a row. The Brahmas have won eight consecutive games twice before, accomplishing the feat in November, 1997 and, most recently, February, 2010.
During the current seven-game winning streak, the Brahmas have produced exceptional defense and goaltending, having allowed only six goals over that span. 2012 All-Star Mark Guggenberger was between the posts for each win, and the rookie netminder recorded three shutouts and allowed more than one goal only once. The Richfield, Minnesota native has improved his season record to 16-4-3, and has taken over the league lead in goals against average (1.84) and save percentage (.930).
Six of the seven wins during the current streak have come against Berry Conference advisaries. The Brahmas topped the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees twice, the Laredo Bucks once and the crosstown rival Allen Americans, who sit five points ahead of Texas for second place in the conference, three times.
The Brahmas look to get their eighth win in a row tonight when they meet the Tulsa Oilers for the sixth time this season. With a win at the BOK Center tonight, the Brahmas would return home to the NTYEX Sports Centre for a rematch against the Oilers on Saturday, February 25 at 7:45pm with the opportunity to set the franchise record. The Brahmas will host the Oilers again on Sunday, February 26 at 5:30pm.
