Rapid City Surges Past Mallards 4-1

MOLINE, Ill. - Jeff Kyrzakos and Konrad Reeder both provided a goal and an assist and Tim Boron made 27 saves as the host Rapid City Rush scored four unanswered goals on the way to a 4-1 win over the Quad City Mallards Friday night. With the loss, the Mallards dropped to 28-22-1 (57 points) and fell four points behind the fourth place Rush in the Central Hockey League's Turner Conference.

Rapid City's four-goal surge began only after Eric Giosa's power play drive from the right wing circle gave the Mallards a 1-0 lead at 6:54 of the first period. The Rush responded with a pair of first period goals of their own. Reeder buried a rebound at 10:22 and, with Rapid City on the man advantage, Scott Wray converted Mike Vaskivuo's centering pass at 17:04 to give the Rush a 2-1 lead.

After a scoreless second period, Patrick Knowlton swooped into the Mallard goalmouth to stretch the Rapid City advantage to 3-1 at 8:01 of the third period. Just under three minutes later Kyrzakos capped of the win for the Rush by poking home a loose puck from the doorstep.

The Mallards return to action tomorrow night against the Rush in Rapid City. The Mallards next play on home ice next Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. against the Fort Wayne Komets. Fans can purchase $2 soft drinks and $2 beers at i wireless Center concession stands during all Tuesday night home games this season.

The box office is open weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and on game days from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the second period. Individual game tickets are available for $12 in the upper level and $17 in the lower level and $25 for the first row along the glass for adults. Tickets for kids 12 and under are available for $5 off adult rates. In addition, tickets are available to military personnel for $2 off the regular adult rate.
