Lancaster Stormers News Release
Anderson Feliz cleared the 37-foot high wall in left field in the top of the 10th inning Wednesday evening, boosting Lancaster to a 4-3, rain-delayed victory at Santander Stadium.
The win extends Lancaster's lead in the second half Freedom Division race to four games over the Revs and clinches the tiebreaker for the Barnstormers, who lead York, seven games to three in the second half with three games left to play.
Feliz took Luis Perdomo (0-1) to the opposite field on an 0-1 pitch for the winning blow in a game that had been held up by rain for one hour, 13 minutes in the top of the eighth.
Pete Andrelczyk (5-2) hit Eric Patterson with a pitch one out into the bottom of the inning. Patterson stole second on a swinging third strike by Brandon Boggs, and Andrelczyk struck out Bryan Pounds to freeze the tying run at second base.
Coming out of the delay, Patterson crushed a leadoff homer to right center field off Scott Gracey, giving York a 3-2 lead. Gracey battled through the rest of the inning, and the Barnstormers were able to fight back in the ninth.
Mike McDade led off with a double off Pounds' glove that trickled down the left field line. Charlie Cutler grounded to second, sending pinch runner Yusuke Kajimoto to third, and Brian Cavazos-Galvez tied the game with a double over Boggs' head in left.
McDade and Patterson exchanged solo homers early in the game. Lancaster forged ahead against Ty'Relle Harris in the fifth. Cavazos-Galvez looped a single into center and took third on a one-out single into the left field corner by Luke Hughes. The run crossed on a wild pitch with Derrick Pyles at the plate.
York tied the game in the sixth as Andres Perez roped a two-out single into left, scoring Wilson Valdez.
Lancaster will open a four-game series against Sugar Land on Thursday night at Clipper Magazine Stadium. The Barnstormers will send Joe Gardner (6-3) to the hill against right-hander Josh Geer (4-4). Fans may tune into 1390-AM, WLAN; rumba1390.com or the I Heart Radio cell phone app, beginning at 6:45.
