Barnstormers Outlast Revolution In Soggy Homer-Fest

York Revolution News Release
The York Revolution capped a thrilling eight-game homestand on a sour note Wednesday night, as they were outlasted by the Lancaster Barnstormers 4-3 in 10 innings, in a game which featured four solo home runs, including two sky-scrapers by Revolution right fielder Eric Patterson.
Each club traded solo home runs in the early stages. Mike McDade put the Barnstormers on top 1-0 in the second with a shot to left (his fourth), and Patterson evened the score in the third, answering with a majestic homer into the Mezzogiorno Picnic Pavilion with two out (his seventh). With the York starting rotation still short-handed following the departure of Shawn Hill, Ty'Relle Harris stepped in for a spot start out of the bullpen and was terrific in an unfamiliar role, eating up a more-than-anticipated four and two-thirds innings. Harris pounded the zone, connecting for strikes on 43 of his 70 pitches. He allowed just two hits following the McDade homer, walked two and struck out three. Both runs against him were earned; Brian Cavazos-Galvez singled and eventually scored on a wild pitch in the fifth to make the score 2-1. For Harris, it was just his 22nd start in seven professional seasons.
Right-hander Madison Boer, a former second round draft pick of the Minnesota Twins in 2011, made his second start for Lancaster. He went five innings, scattering four hits and an earned run on the Patterson homer. He struck out three and walked one. Neither starter factored into the decision.
The Revs rallied for the equalizer in the sixth, when Wilson Valdez led the half-inning with a single. He later scored from third on a two-out line single to left by Andres Perez, his team-leading 52nd RBI of the season. Perez enjoyed a three hit night and was retired just once.
With two out in the top of the eighth, the skies opened up for a one hour and 13 minute rain delay. Once closer Josh Judy came in to secure the final out of the eighth, Patterson didn't wait long to give York their first lead of a long night, with another titanic blast over the right field fence to lead off the bottom of the inning, his eighth longball of 2015.
In the top of the ninth however, the Stormers roared back against Judy with a pair of doubles to left field which tied the game for a third time. McDade led off with a ground ball into the corner, and then scored with one out when Cavazos-Galvez slammed a two-base hit off the Arch Nemesis. It was his team-leading 59th RBI of the season, and the game headed to extra innings with the Revs unable to strike in the ninth.
In the top of the 10th, Anderson Feliz connected for his fifth home run of the season off York reliever Luis Perdomo, and the solo shot to left gave Lancaster their third lead of the night. After being hit by a pitch and stealing second base, Patterson was stranded at second to end the game, with Barnstormers closer Pete Andrelczyk striking out the final two batters of the game for the save.
In taking three of four games, Lancaster (21-11) opened a four-game lead on York (17-15) in the second half Freedom Division standings. The Revolution, vying for their third straight Community Cup, now trail 14-11 in the 2015 series. One more Stormer victory will clinch it for Lancaster, and York needs to sweep the final regular season meeting between the clubs, August 24-26 in Lancaster to win the Cup. (A tie would go to the Revs, as last year's winner.) The Revolution continue to lead the all-time War of The Roses tally however, by a 95-86 count in regular season games.
The Revs embark on an eight-game road trip beginning Thursday night in Bridgeport. York lefty Frank Gailey (3-3, 2.03) faces Bridgeport southpaw Matt Iannazzo (4-7, 5.00) at 7:05 p.m. Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 1350, woyk1350.com, and on the WOYK mobile apps beginning at 6:45 p.m. with Darrell Henry on the call.
