Lancaster Stormers News Release

The Lancaster Barnstormers, working closely with the Bethel AME Church of Lancaster, are honoring the nine innocent victims of the Charleston, SC massacre in a pre-game ceremony this Thursday, August 13th. Reverend Edward Bailey will lead a prayer of unity and healing for all in attendance before a "Moment of Silence" for the victims. The Bethel AME Congregation will then sing "Amazing Grace".

The Barnstormer Players and Coaches will be wearing the Baseball Hats of the Charleston River Dogs of Charleston, South Carolina. There will be an auction during the game for the hats and all proceeds from the hat auction will be directed to the Mother Emanuel Hope Fund. In addition, a fundraiser has been ongoing through ticket-sales for the August 13th game between the Barnstormers and Sugarland Skeeters that will be added to the proceeds of the hat auction. The Mother Emanuel Hope Fund will provide for the families of those who perished.

Rick and Jessy Rodgers of Rodgers & Associates and the Mel Wenger Community Support Fund at the Lancaster Community Foundation are generously providing funding for the evening.

The Barnstormers are also recognizing local police officers who participated in last week's National Night Out events in Lancaster County. An officer from each Police Department holding a "National Night Out" will be invited to the field to represent their municipality.

The Lancaster Barnstormers are entering their eleventh season as a member of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. Home games are played at Clipper Magazine Stadium in downtown Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Please call 717.509.HITS (4487) or visit LancasterBarnstormers.com for more information.
