FC Dallas Schedule Set for 2006 MLS Season

DALLAS - FC Dallas and Major League Soccer today announced the schedule for the 2006 MLS season. The Hoops first full season at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco will feature 16 home matches, including First Kick 2006 on Saturday April 1 against the Chicago Fire, which will be broadcast live on ABC Sports and two other matches that will be shown live on ESPN2. Additionally, Colin Clarke's side will play a pair of road games on ESPN2, bringing their total number of appearances on national television to five, up three from a year ago.

FC Dallas will kick off the season with its first-ever match on network television, when it hosts the Chicago Fire at 3 p.m. (CDT) at Pizza Hut Park in MLS First Kick 2006. The Hoops will be back on national television three weeks later when they host the Kansas City Wizards on ESPN2 at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 23.

Also highlighting the home portion of the schedule will be a pair of matches against new, in-state rival Houston 1836 who will make its first regular season visit to Pizza Hut Park on Saturday, May 13, the Hoops third and final home match of the season to be aired on ESPN2. Houston 1836 will return three-and-a-half months later on September 2 for their final visit of the year to Frisco.

In addition to the three home matches to be nationally televised, the Hoops will play a pair of road games on ESPN2. The first will come on Saturday, July 15 FC Dallas will make its first-ever visit to the Chicago Fire's new stadium in Bridgeview, Ill. with kickoff slated for 3 p.m. This will be followed by the club's final ESPN2 game of the year on Saturday, August 12 when it makes its second and final visit of the year to Robertson Stadium in Houston.

Other games that highlight the 2006 FC Dallas schedule are:

- Wednesday, May 10 vs. Los Angeles Galaxy at 7:30 p.m.

- Saturday, May 20 vs. New England Revolution at 7:30 p.m.

- Tuesday, July 4 vs. D.C. United at 7:30 p.m.

With the exception of the three nationally televised home matches, 12 of FC Dallas' remaining 13 games in Frisco will kickoff at 7:30 p.m. (CDT). The only exception to this will be the Hoops first meeting of the year with Chivas USA on Sunday, May 11, which will start a 5 p.m.

FC Dallas' local broadcast schedule will be announced at a later date.

Throughout the 2006 season, FC Dallas will appear in 23 matches on Saturday, five on Wednesday, three on Sunday and one on Tuesday. Their longest homestand will be a pair of three game stretches between May 10 - May 20 (Los Angeles, Houston and New England) and June 3 - June 24 (Columbus, Chivas and Colorado) while their longest road trip will also be three games, stretching from August 20-August 30 (Los Angeles, Kansas City, Colorado).

FC Dallas, a charter member club of Major League Soccer, began play at Pizza Hut Park, a new 20,500 seat soccer specific stadium, on August 6, 2005. The 145-acre facility is located at the intersection of Main Street and Dallas North Tollway in Frisco. Pizza Hut Park will accommodate Major League Soccer matches, major concerts, international soccer matches and High School football. Adjacent to the stadium are 17 regulation-sized, tournament-grade soccer fields which will be utilized on a year-round basis.
