
Rapids Announce 2006 MLS Regular Season Schedule

DENVER, CO (Wednesday, February 8, 2006)- The Colorado Rapids announced today the team's 2006 regular season schedule, which will kick off with the club's season opener against Major League Soccer's newest club, Houston 1836, at Robertson Stadium on Sunday, April 2nd. The Rapids home opener is set for Saturday, April 8th at 7:00 p.m. (MT) at INVESCO Field at Mile High against Eastern Conference rivals the Columbus Crew.
The Rapids will defend their Rocky Mountain Cup championship title during their four games against Real Salt Lake, which are set for May 27th at Rice Eccles Stadium, June 9th and August 9th at INVESCO Field, and finishing on September 2nd in Utah. The Rapids captured the inaugural Rocky Mountain Cup in 2005 after defeating Real Salt Lake with a 3-1 record on the season.
Fernando Clavijo's side will take on the defending MLS champion Los Angeles Galaxy for the first time this year on Saturday, May 20th at The Home Depot Center, with a return leg eleven days later as Landon Donovan's club will visit the Mile High City on Wednesday, May 31st at 7:30 p.m. (MT).
Freddy Adu and DC United will pay their annual visit to INVESCO Field at Mile High on Saturday, May 6th at 7:00 p.m. (MT).
The Rapids will hold the club's traditional Independence Day soccer and fireworks extravaganza, featuring Colorado's biggest and best fireworks show, for the 11th straight season as they host the New England Revolution on Tuesday, July 4th at 7:30 p.m. (MT) at INVESCO Field at Mile.
Single game tickets for the 2006 season will go on sale Saturday, March 11th at 10:00 a.m. Tickets for single games start at only $10 are available via phone at 303-830-TIXS or online at coloradorapids.com. Returning for 2006 will be the Rapids Kids Night promotion which provides a free ticket for kids 16 and under with the purchase of an adult ticket.
