FC Dallas Juniors U-16 Forward Ruben Luna Named to Development Academy Starting XI Team

FRISCO, Texas (Monday, July 13, 2009) - U.S. Soccer today unveiled the 2008-2009 Development Academy Starting XI team, and included on the prestigious list is FC Dallas Juniors U-16 forward Ruben Luna. Luna, a Garland resident, led the entire U.S. Soccer Development Academy league with 38 goals in 27 games this season. The Starting XI team was voted upon by Development Academy clubs and U.S. Soccer National Staff Coaches, and the announcements for Coach and Player of the Year are scheduled for later this week.

Luna's goal-scoring prowess helped lead the FCD Juniors U-16 to the Development Academy Finals Week, currently being played at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. Finals Week showcases the top eight teams in each the U-15/16 and U-17/18 age brackets from the Development Academy season, beginning with group play and culminating with championship matches later this week.

After opening Finals Week with a loss to the Derby County Wolves on Saturday, FC Dallas looks to bounce back in this afternoon's contest against the New York Red Bulls at 5 p.m. CT. Dallas will wrap up group play on July 15 against the Chicago Magic AS Monaco at 9 p.m. In order to reach the championship match on July 17 (televised live on ESPN Classic) FC Dallas must finish at the top of its group following the three opening round games.

Sat. July 11 - FC Dallas vs. Derby County Wolves, 3-1 loss

Mon. July 13 - FC Dallas vs. New York Red Bulls (5 p.m. CT, Home Depot Center Field #1)

Wed. July 15 - FC Dallas vs. Chicago Magic AS Monaco (9 p.m. CT, Home Depot Center Field #1)
