Galaxy, Milan Foundations to Auction Jerseys, Raise Funds

ARSON, Calif. (Monday, July 13, 2009) - The LA Galaxy Foundation and Milan Foundation - Fondazione Milan are partnering to auction off the first-half player jerseys that are being donated by the LA Galaxy and AC Milan at the match, presented by San Manuel Indian Bingo and Casino, on Sunday, July 19 at The Home Depot Center. The auction proceeds will benefit the Galaxy Foundation's many outreach programs and initiatives, including Kicks for Kids, Camps for Kids, Foundations' Feast and Holiday Assist programs.

Bids for the jerseys, which will be signed at the end of the game, can be placed at the LA Galaxy Foundation booth at Soccer Fest, located on the Main Concourse, through the end of the first half. All winners must be present to win.

"It's a wonderful partnership and opportunity for fans of both teams to win signed memorabilia while assisting the Galaxy Foundation in its fundraising efforts."

Main projects

From his establishment the Milan Foundation concluded 55 projects, funding of over € 3.5 million. Among the different initiatives: "Milan Foundation for Unicef", saw over 17,000 children vaccinated against six killer diseases in Congo; the rebuilding and expansion of a kindergarden in the community of Marè in Rio de Janeiro - Brazil; the carrying out of a multifunctional sports centre in Udayan, a structure for the reception and care of lepers' children in Kolkata (India); building of the new department of First Aid "Fondazione Milan" with De Marchi Children Hospital in Milan; building of the new Department of Neonatology and Intensive Care Unit of Holy Family Hospital in Nazareth; the construction of the "Fondazione Milan" Vascular disease centre at the Buzzi Children Hospital in Milan.
