FC Dallas News Release

FRISCO, Texas- Major League Soccer today announced the list of players available for selection in the 2016 Expansion Draft. The Expansion Draft will provide an opportunity for expansion clubs Atlanta United and Minnesota United FC to select up to five players each from the list of 259 available players. Atlanta will have the first selection in the Expansion Draft, tomorrow at 1 p.m. CT.

FC Dallas Expansion Draft List

Protected (11): Kellyn Acosta, Tesho Akindele, Michael Barrios, Mauro Diaz, Maynor Figueroa, Carlos Gruezo, Matt Hedges, Ryan Hollingshead, Victor Ulloa, Maxi Urruti and Walker Zimmerman.

Automatically Protected Players (6): Jesse Gonzalez, Aaron Guillen, Paxton Pomykal, Coy Craft, Bryan Reynolds, Jesus Ferreira

Available for selection (14): Getterson, Aubrey David, Atiba Harris, Moises Hernandez, Zach Loyd, Juan Esteban Ortiz, Norberto Paparatto, Mauro Rosales, Carlos Ruiz, Chris Seitz, Colin Bonner, Ryan Herman, Carlos Lizarazo and Timo Pitter.

Each current MLS club had the opportunity to protect 11 players from their 2016 roster. Generation adidas players (who did not graduate at the end of the 2016 season) and Homegrown Players on a club's off-budget roster are automatically protected and do not count against a team's 11 protected roster spots. Designated Players are not automatically protected. If a Designated Player has a no trade clause in his contract, then the club must protect him in the Expansion Draft.

Once one player has been selected from a team's unprotected roster, that team may not lose any further players (all additional players from that team become ineligible for selection).
