ROCKFORD, Ill. - Ashley Farr got the better of Wally Quigg this time.

Farr singled home the winning run past the Florence Freedom second baseman with two outs in the 10th inning to send the Rockford RiverHawks into the Frontier League All-Star break with a win. The RiverHawks came from behind to beat the Freedom, 4-3, and take two of three games.

In the series opener on Saturday, with the tying run at third and the winning run at first, Farr hit the ball to the same spot in the hole on the right side of the infield. Quigg made a diving stop for the final out in Florence's 7-6 win. Rockford won, 13-5, on Sunday.

On Monday, the starting pitchers dueled into the late innings. Rockford's Derek Roper was perfect through four innings and lasted seven. Scott Martin broke a 1-1 tie in the top of the seventh inning with a two-run homer to left field off Roper.

Aaron McEachran lined a two-out, two-run single to right field in the eighth to drive out Florence starter Curt Moenter.

Fuller replaced Moenter and gave up a leadoff infield hit to Todd Dulaney in the bottom of the 10th. The ‘Hawks loaded the bases against Fuller and closer Ted Rowe. Rowe jumped ahead in the count 1-2 on Farr, but the Rockford DH drove in the winner.

The RiverHawks are off for three days, then begin a six-game road swing to Windy City and River City after the break.

The RiverHawks are the defending champions of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league in its 13th season. All games are broadcasted live on WRHL-FM, 102.3 - the Hub.
