Evansville Otters News Release

Brian McKenna had four hits and Jeff Goldbach unleashed a bases loaded triple to lead the Evansville Otters to an 11-2 win over the River City Rascals in the last game for the two teams before the all-star break.

The Otters had gotten runners on against starter Tony Marsala in the first three innings, but were unable to push anything across until a defensive lapse opened the door. With two outs in the third inning, Justin McKinley dropped a pop-up in the infield. It opened the door for a four run inning for Evansville. The Otters then scored three in the third to take a 7-2 lead.

Evansville put the game away in the fifth on Goldbach's triple, which drove in three, giving the Otters a 10-2 lead. Goldbach was driven home on a sacrifice fly by Scott Ward to create the final score.

Ben Foster (6-2) went six innings allowing two runs (one earned) in the victory. Anthony Del Prete pitched the final three innings for his second save.

Evansville will now get three days off for the all-star break. Six Otters will be representing the East Division all-star team as Foster will head to Washington's Falconi Field. He will be joined by Andre Simpson, Nathan Stone, Denver Stuckey, Steve Martin, and starting catcher, Rickey Clinton. The team will return to play on Friday, July 15th at Richmond with the game starting at 6:35 p.m.
