Springfield Falcons News Release

Springfield, MA - The Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League (AHL) today announced that the team will donate $10,500 to the Jennifer Ferraro Foundation following Team Jennifer Night fundraisers.

The Falcons wore special commemorative jerseys in the club's game against the Portland Pirates at the Springfield Civic Center on March 13th. A subsequent online auction of the game-worn jerseys and other hockey memorabilia concluded Friday. The Falcons also raffled memorabilia donated by numerous National Hockey League and AHL teams for the benefit of the Jennifer Ferraro Foundation at the March 13th game.

"We appreciate the generosity of those who participated in the Team Jennifer Night fundraisers," said Falcons Director of Marketing Carole Appleton. "It meant a great deal not only Chris and Peter Ferraro, but to their teammates as well."

The Jennifer Ferraro Foundation was established in memory of Jennifer Ferraro, the wife of Falcons center Chris Ferraro, who lost her courageous battle with stomach cancer in November 2002. Chris and Peter Ferraro are twin brothers who are co-captains of the Falcons this season. The foundation was created to assist patients with stomach and other cancers.
