Fresno Falcons News Release

Bakersfield, Calif. - Kenny Bernard scored two goals and added two assists as the Fresno Falcons scored six unanswered goals to defeat the Bakersfield Condors 6-1 on Sunday afternoon in front of 5,849 fans at Rabobank Arena.

For the second straight game, the Falcons gave up an early goal as Brett Lute pushed the rebound of a Todd Griffith shot past Jake Moreland just 20 seconds into the contest to give Bakersfield a 1-0 lead.

The Falcons dominated the rest of the first period, scoring three times to take a 3-1 lead after one period.

Brady Leisenring pulled Fresno even at 12:01, taking a pass from Oren Eizenman in the left-wing circle and pushing the puck past goaltender Michel Robinson for his 20th goal of the season, while extending his goal streak to seven games and his point streak to 10.

Fresno then scored on both ends of a 5-on-3 power play to extend the lead to two. Bernard tallied at 14:33, redirecting a Tyler Kindle shot past Robinson, and then Igor Gongalsky repeated the feat 50 seconds later, again deflecting a Kindle shot past the Condors' goaltender.

The Falcons kept firing in the first 9:41 of the second period, scoring goals on each of their first three shots to extend the lead to 3-1.

Mike Ramsay scored Fresno's third power-play goal of the game at 2:41, tipping Joe Van Culin's shot from the blue line past Robinson to make it 4-1.

Fresno's penalty-kill unit added to the lead with a shorthanded goal at 6:54. Bernard skated into the Condors' zone and had his shot stopped by Robinson, who then inadvertently kicked the puck into his own net for Bernard's second goal of the game.

Ramsay added his second of the night at 9:41, flipping the rebound of a Bernard shot past Robinson for his 13th of the season. Following the goal, Robinson received a two-minute minor, 10-minute misconduct, and game misconduct for arguing the call, and was replaced in goal by Yutaka Fukufuji. Additionally, Condors' head coach Marty Raymond also received a game misconduct for throwing equipment onto the ice.

With a 3-for-9 showing on the power play, the Falcons have scored 13 power-play goals in their last 47 opportunities.

Fresno returns home on Tuesday, hosting the Phoenix RoadRunners at 7:00 p.m. on a Two-for-Tuesday, presented by Carl's Jr., KMPH Fox 26, and KRZR 103.7 FM.
