Bakersfield Condors News Release

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors lost to the Fresno Falcons, 6-1, in front of 5,849 fans at Rabobank Arena in downtown Bakersfield Sunday afternoon. The Condors remain two points behind the Phoenix RoadRunners, who were idle today, for the final National Conference playoff spot.

LW Brett Lutes got Bakersfield (16-28-9, 41 points) on the board first with his 16th tally of the season just 20 seconds into the opening period. He was set up by F Todd Griffith and C Tim Konsorada, who picked up assists on the goal. Fresno (29-14-8, 66 points) tied the game and pushed in front with three goals in the span of 3:22, including a pair of power play goals, to make it 3-1 after 20 minutes. After the quick start, it was Fresno to lead 14-7 in shots during the period.

Fresno extended its lead with a power-play goal from RW Mike Ramsay and a shorthanded goal from RW Kenny Bernard in the first half of the second stanza to go up, 5-1. Ramsay added his second of the game later in the middle frame, giving the Falcons a 6-1 lead after two. G Michel Robinson was replaced by G Yutaka Fukufuji after earning a game misconduct following Fresno's sixth goal.

Fukufuji played well in relief of Robinson, making 14 saves in the third period and stopping all 22 he faced. The Condors threw 10 shots on goal in the final frame, but Fresno G Jake Moreland turned them all aside en route to the 6-1 win for the Falcons.

Notes from The Nest:

C Tim Konsorada extended his point streak to four games with an assist today, and has 2g-3a during the streak. LW Brett Lutes scored for the second straight game, and now has 16 tallies on the campaign.

The Condors Alumni team beat the Falcons Alumni team, 13-8, prior to today's Condors game to conclude the 41-hour Condors Fighting Cancer Hockey-Thon. Condors Legend and Hockey-Thon founder Kevin Barrett was awarded the game's first star.

Four game-worn Condors Legends Hockey-Thon jerseys were auctioned off live during today's intermissions, in addition to multiple silent auction items, to benefit Links for Life. Paul Rosebush's Hockey-Thon jersey raised the highest total of $2,200. Check www.bakersfieldcondors.com soon for a complete Hockey-Thon recap!

Lucky 2 Million!

The Condors welcomed the 2 millionth fan in team history today. Sawyer Robinson won a prize pack that included a Condors jersey personalized as "2 million", a commemorative plaque, tickets for the remainder of the season, a team-signed stick, upgraded seats for the night and a lottery ticket featuring the game's starting lineup, which hopefully will yield a $2 million payoff or more!
