Fresno Falcons News Release

FRESNO, Calif. – The Taylor Cup Champion Fresno Falcons have signed center Mike Barrie, a former eighth round draft pick of the Buffalo Sabres.

Barrie joins the club as a "veteran" under the West Coast Hockey League's roster guidelines after having spent the majority of his eight-year career in the East Coast Hockey League. He played last season with the London Knights in the British SuperLeague. Barrie is the second center the Falcons have signed in a span of three days after bringing in Ryan Duthie earlier in the week.

To accommodate Barrie on the roster, Head Coach and General Manager Blaine Moore was forced to place "veteran" right winger and Assistant Captain Joe Frederick on season-ending injured reserve with a shoulder injury. Moore also placed rookie Jordan Landry on the 14-day injured reserve list.

The Falcons are preparing for their only game during a 16-day stretch tomorrow night against the Long Beach Ice Dogs. The game will feature the team's 3rd Annual Teddy Bear Toss, holiday jerseys and a free official Falcons team photo for the first 5,000 fans in attendance. Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. start are still available at the Selland Arena Box Office, all Ticketmaster outlets and at www.ticketmaster.com.
