San Diego Gulls News Release
SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Gulls and the North Bay Association are teaming up for the second annual "Help Just One" event, which will take place Thursday at the San Diego Sports Arena.
"Help Just One 2002" will be held in the Arena Club from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. The yearly event helps local, at-risk, needy children. Some 75 children will be participating this year and each will receive pre-requested gifts, a holiday feast, a surprise from SeaWorld and a special visit from Santa Claus. Children and their families will also have the opportunity to skate on the ice.
"Last year's event was so touching, not only for the expressions on the children's faces, but also for their parents," said Chuck Pretto, president of the North Bay Association and vice president of Kobey's Swap Meet. "Every parent wants the best for their children. We are happy that we can help them to give their kids a very special gift for Christmas."
For $250, you can "Help Just One" and sponsor one of these deserving families. Your donation will help fulfill once lucky child's wish and ensure that his/her family enjoys a delicious holiday feast. For more information, contact Julie Patton at 619-224-4625 ext. 385. A group of Gulls players and staff will also be on hand, partaking in the event.
"The San Diego Gulls are proud to take part in this event, which is for such a great cause," Gulls Vice President Jeff Longo said. "If we can make someone's holiday - especially a child's - that much better, then we'll do anything we can."
San Diego, again, has a long layoff before returning to action Monday at home against the Idaho Steelheads. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. From there, the Gulls play in Long Beach Wednesday, Dec. 11 before opening a three-game homestand. All games can be heard live on 1130AM-KSDO and at www.ksdo.com with Chris Ello calling the play-by-play. The Gulls' Internet radio show broadcasts live every Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on wsradio.com with Tera Black and Jeremy Zager hosting.
