Falcons Fall To Sharks, Handed First Regulation Loss

Springfield, Mass. - The Springfield Falcons (5-1-0-1) lost their first game in regulation Saturday night, falling to the Worcester Sharks (2-3-0-0) by the final score of 3-1 at the MassMutual Center.

Daniil Tarasov recorded a hat trick - the first against the Falcons since December of 2012. Tarasov scored at 5:44 of the first period on a power play to give Worcester a 1-0 lead, and then added two more in the middle frame - at 11:26 and 15:22.

Springfield forward Jake Hansen scored the lone Falcons goal, notching a shorthanded tally at 1:54 of the second period. Hansen's score - his third goal of the season and second shorthanded - evened the score at 1-1. The White Bear Lake, Minnesota native finished the game with a +1 rating, improving his team-best plus/minus to +9.

Mike McKenna (2-1-0) stopped 31 of the 34 shots he faced in net for Springfield. Harri Sateri made 17 saves on 18 shots for Worcester. The 18 shots on goal were a season low for the Falcons.

Springfield hits the road to take on the Adirondack Phantoms at the Glens Falls Civic Center Wednesday, October 30 at 7:00 p.m. The team returns to the MassMutual Center Friday, November 1 and Saturday, November 2 to host the Hartford Wolf Pack on back-to-back nights. Both games begin at 7:00 p.m.
