Bulldogs Drop Comets 3-2

UTICA, NEW YORK - The Hamilton Bulldogs leveraged a 3-0 lead after two periods to avoid a near third period comeback from the Utica Comets as Hamilton (4-1-0-2) dropped Utica (0-5-0-1) 3-2 on Saturday evening at Utica Memorial Auditorium.

Bulldogs forward Maxime Macenauer opened the scoring with his first goal of the season at 5:50 of the first period, with assists from forwards Akim Aliu and Martin St. Pierre.

Hamilton forward Louis Leblanc added to the lead with his fourth goal of the season at 8:09 of the second period, with the only assist going to forward Sven Andrighetto.

Aliu extended Hamilton's lead to 3-0 less than two minutes after that, with Macenauer and forward Erik Nystrom drawing assists.

Utica defenceman Peter Andersson got the Comets on the board at 3:33 of the third period, with forwards Pascal Pelletier and Benn Ferriero earning assists.

With just 4:33 to go, the Comets closed the Bulldogs lead to one off a goal by forward Colin Stuart, assisted by defenceman Frank Corrado and Ferriero.

Hamilton weathered a last-minute push by Utica to hold on for the 3-2 win.

Dustin Tokarski got the start in goal for the Bulldogs, making 31 saves on 33 shots in the victory. Joacim Eriksson made 21 saves on 24 shots for the Comets in the loss.

The Bulldogs went 0-for-2 on the power play, while the Comets went 0-for-7.
