Falcons Fall To Marlies 3-1

The Springfield Falcons lost to the Toronto Marlies 3-1 in front of 3,522 at the MassMutual Center on Saturday night. The Falcons are now 12-13-3-1 on the season as they head into Providence on Sunday.

Taylor Chorney opened the scoring for Springfield with a power play goal at 9:00 of the first period, his first AHL/pro goal. Tim Stapleton tied the score at 1-1 with his sixth goal of the season at 10:47 of the opening frame.

After a scoreless second period in which the Falcons had several quality scoring chances, the Marlies took their first lead of the night in the third period. Toronto scored the eventual game-winning marker when Alex Foster scored even strength at 4:40, followed by Brent Aubin's insurance goal at 18:12 of the final frame.
